The JEDI Program

What is it?

The JEDI program is a COSGP initiative designed to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. It aims to create a more inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.




Key Components:

  • Diversity: Encourages a broad spectrum of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives
  • Equity: Focuses on fairness and equal opportunities for all participants, ensuring everyone has access to the same resources and support
  • Inclusion: Aims to create a welcoming environment where all voices are heard, and everyone feels they belong

Objectives

  • Increase awareness and understanding of diversity issues
  • Foster a culture of respect and inclusion
  • Support professional and personal growth through diverse experiences

How to log hours:

1. Ensure hours meet JEDI program requirements

2. Submit hours within one week of your JEDI event

Each log activity must have a brief description, reflection, and the number of hours spent

Participation

Qualifying Activities:

  • Attend diversity training sessions
  • Participate in community service projects related to inclusion
  • Organize of participate in events that promote cultural awareness
  • Mentor underrepresented groups within the organization 

Non-Qualifying Activities: 

  • Regular job duties that are not specifically related to DEI efforts
  • Attending unrelated events without contributing to DEI goals
  • Passive activities like watching a webinar without active participation or reflection

Recognition and Awarding System: Certificates of Participation 

  • Participants who meet the required number of JEDI hours will be awarded a Letter of Commendation

Outstanding Contributions

  • Participants who show exceptional commitment and impact may receive additional recognition or awards
  • These awards can be in the form of special mentions, plaques, or additional professional development opportunities
